25,000 Muslims March in England to call for laws to Silence Critics of Islam.

RE: 25,000 Muslims March in England to call for laws to Silence Critics of Islam.
Are people allowed to say racist comments with no consequences? Are people allowed to deny the holocaust everywhere? Is hate speech always allowed? Can I advocate harm to others?

I tend to agree insults should not be allowed to other religions because they are meant to incite hatred and hurt feelings. Criticism should be allowed and dialogue.

Should kids be allowed to insult one another on the play ground? Should they be allowed to make fun of other people's religions too?

IMO, there is a difference between censoring speech, and reminding people that speech has consequences. If you are an inveterate racist who cannot keep his opinions to himself, you will probably lose friends and potentially employment. But the government won't lock you up for it. Advocating harm to others may be restricted depending on the circumstances, though I wonder how many imams have been locked up for declaring a fatwah on others or making veiled threats or just referring to people or governments as SATAN. Because that all sounds like hate speech to me, but I'm guessing that none of those 25,000 marchers want that particular speech to be curtailed.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

In case you are not aware, hate speech laws do exist in Great Britain see here and here. Perhaps what the 25, 000 Muslims who marched wanted was the same speech protection afforded to dead British soldiers and dead police officers in the UK. What they are saying is, why can't those same laws extend to those who insult our dead Prophet? Which is a legally watertight argument, even if not socially.

Quote:Actually Great Britain is a place that gives a platform for everybody to voice their concerns and it allows the freedom to protest.

As long as no one dares to say anything about your fucking fairy tales, huh?

Or is freedom of speech a one-way street?

What's the matter? The dead prophet can't take an insult? Does he have a poor stomach or something?
Poor Ol'J.C. is always taking crap from everyone (and this guy is allegedly a god in human form), but a dead prophet can't, without all his followers becoming a murderous mass of hooligans?

I think your imams are the ones responsible for the perceived rage in the speech...

It's interesting that you didn't mention the banned insults against the soldiers and the police officers LOL

And you can't insult a judge in a court of law...
Can you think of the reason for that?

The existence of one stupid law does not justify enacting another.

Which banned 'insults'?

When the Gloucestershire and Anglian regiments returned from Afghanistan a few years back there were a large contingent of Muslims protesting their return march through Gloucester and Essex calling for them and the UK to burn.

They were allowed to stay there, they were just laughed at and ignored for the barbaric goat fuckers they are.

Oh, also:

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/1/contents

The UK has already enacted dangerous legislation that gives religious extremists a loophole in protecting their poor little feelings when it comes to calling their prophets sadistic bastards. In fact, the RRHA is one of the worst pieces of legislation the New Labour government got through parliament. Nobodies belief has to be respected, especially when that belief is rediculous.
