We're a Christian country, that is, a country that is majority Christian. Poland is a Christian nation (Catholicism is the official state religion). Bangladesh is a Muslim country. Iran is an Islamic nation.

When people claim we're a Christian nation, they're essentially claiming that Christianity is the official religion. It simply is not.

Native Americans were handed a rotten deal for sure and are part of our nation as well as any other citizen. Their influence can be found, but our country was not founded by native Americans alone.
