When will the Middle East become majority Atheist?

It will take a long long long time. If not never. They are so far behind the times unlike Europe where things are becoming more secular. With all the violence and deep dedication they have I doubt we will see it in the next 100-200 years... maybe 500.

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

That doesn't seem to follow. Do you think if the WBC started bombing rival churches they'd go 'oh fuck, I see now how dangerous Christianity is?' (March 9, 2015 at 9:29 pm)NuclearJaguar Wrote: Turkey is already a (relatively) secular Muslim country and some Muslim countries are (again, relatively) less austere and open to modernisation (I'm talking the maghrebi states excluding Libya, and Jordan, maybe a few others). When ISIS talks about 'marching into Rome', they're talking about Istanbul, 'the Rome of the East'. Turkey by itself has the military power to crush ISIS. But since the USA is obviously going to wind up doing the heavy lifting like it always does, why should they step up? If we stayed out of it, Turkey, Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt would HAVE to put down ISIS. They're the countries to which ISIS is the biggest threat. Libya too, if they're not too far gone already. I hear it's 5% in Saudi, maybe higher in Iran.

Libya too, if they're not too far gone already. And if the West wouldn't have spun yet another fairy tale about the galant insurgents against the evil Assad regime and supported them in their usual ignorance, at least half of the problem wouldn't exist in the first place. Now it's the Iranians supporting the Iraquis. But that of course is also frowned upon. In some heads there's still that wet dream about creating a beacon of democracy in Iraq as monkey boy used to put it. As if this ever was even a remote possibility, once the lid was off the kettle. "[God] sounds like an abusive lover, 'But dear, I wouldn't beat you if you didn't make me angry'" - Nope My problem with religious people is not the fact that they hold the beliefs they do, my problem is when they claim that those beliefs make logical sense. If you wish to hold beliefs in fairy tales, that is fine with me. I still think you're silly, but that is fine. But the moment you claim that your views concerning those subjects can safely operate in any realm other than the realm of faith and/or fiction is the moment you deserve to be called on your bullshit. So it seems the most likely way this is going to happen is to blow up all of that part of the map, and air-drop in an atheist. Then it will be majority atheist for the first time since humans came up with the "God" concept.
Hopefully we can find a more peaceful solution by Wednesday at some point. Feel free to send me a private message.

To me they aren't going turn to atheism or even liberal Islam as long as average life level is so low.
