The Future Of World Relgions report (PEW Research)

RE: The Future Of World Relgions report (PEW Research)
"looking forward" does not mean it has to be that way, they are only arguing our current climate. If more of Africa and the Middle East are lead to more education and lead to more open societies and are more educated and less poor, that can change the current assessment.

Religion is the biggest trouble maker distraction that allows the world's uber rich to continue it's chase for cheap labor.

I'm actually beginning to doubt the report myself. It consistently states that many countries, in particular in Europe, are more religious than they actually are. For example, reading through Appendix C, it claims all of the Nordic countries are "very Christian" (percentage wise). For example, it predicts that Norway will be 73.7% Christain in 2050, Denmark will be 78.6% Christian in 2050 and so on. So yeah, take it with a bit of salt, as they say.

It's a divisive issue. Compared to Shia though, Mormons have it relatively easy. I've yet to hear about the indiscriminate slaughter of Mormons...

Mormonism defies categorization, and for God's sake, don't ask a Mormon anything complicated about their doctrine or beliefs.  The are famously confused and befuddled about their history and even cursory examination of the history of their revelations and doctrines will make your head spin.

Spirit bodies, marriage for time, marriage for eternity, God's curse(s) upon the Hamites (blacks, Asians, Latinos etc), Baneemy, magic underwear, Kolob, etc., Mormonism is filled with crap they cannot explain coherently, and they are famously unconcerned about their befuddlement.

If you profess sincere belief in Joseph Smith's hand written account of his First Visitation you get excommunicated.  Try and get a coherent explanation for that!!
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Most Christians are Christian in name only, they use the term for social reasons because they think it makes them look good to the neighbors, not because they've ever spent much time thinking about what being a Christian really means. I think the same is true to a certain degree of Muslims too, especially in countries where not wearing the Muslim label can get you tortured or killed.  Sure they're going to claim to be Muslim, it's in their best interests.  That doesn't mean they really are though.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide mankind that cannot be achieved as well or better through secular means.

Yeah.  Xtians seem to glory in admitting their fallen nature and abdicating all responsibility to a higher power.  By some perversion of logic that makes them feel superior in the eyes of the god they worship.

Shit I certainly hope not. Europe has been so far stubbornly secular. This would be bad for the world because it's conflict with the east. I wish the big three  would find another planet to have their pissing contest on.

It's not the casualty that will do them in.  It is the fact Islam doesn't do much to lift Islamic societies out of backwardness into modern wealth and plenty.

Islam has been the reason why Islamic societies are generally backwards, poorly organized, unproductive, and lacking in ability to adopt modernity.   But pride and resentment against the west for rubbing their faces in their own impotence has thus far allowed all but the most thoughtful Muslims to pretend it is not what they think of as their own culture and religious tradition that is the source of their gross inadaquacy, and pretend instead their inadaquacy is everyone else's fault and their solution must lie in something they think uniquely distinguishes them.

But once islam has assumed the mantle of being the solution, it only a matter of time when its credibility is trashed by its being unable to solve the problem to which it had claimed to be the solution.

In 30 years, the fact that those under them thumb of radical Islam would be even poorer, weaker, less adequately fed and clothed, and have less ability to avail themselves of modern benefits that so many nonislamic societies easily adopts, will spread disrepute for Islam amongst those whom Islam is making the swiftest inroad now.
