No. Guns are the problem.
When we stop using guns, there are no more problems.
That's a bit optimistic. After the Australian gun ban, gun massacres went way down, massacres over all went down, but massacres using other means (knives, axes, bombs, fire, defenestration) went up. We'll still have problems. But fewer people will be murdered, and that's a good thing.
My problem with focusing on guns is that it is clear than in America, the political will to tighten control of them is not present among our elected officials. If we get rid of enough NRA-beholden politicians, common sense gun regulation will follow. I don't think the 2nd Amendment was a bad idea (though it is very poorly written). But it's nonsense to ban research on gun violence by the CDC, claim that 30-round magazines are needed in the hands of civilians, and obstruct restriction of access for citizens with disabilities or histories that make it clearly unwise to put a gun in their hands. And it's unjust to treat armed citizens differently depending on their race.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.
