Here is the benfit of living where no one wants... no kings to invade and take your stuff. just other smaller tribes in the area who all had pacts with aberham to look out for one another.

But at that time was not meant to be a sacrifice for humanity but to help direct and guide abraham and his descendants through this time. Other's simply refer to him as a prophet or a godly king, but also remember there was no religion at this time so those roles are kinda pointless.
So anyway Mel, the king of Sodom Abraham all of the stuff they took back including all of the people/Lot that were taken away as slaves are in this valley just before sodom.
