And how is running background checks on people who have passed background checks dozens or hundreds of times before an efficient or cost effective use of lawvenforcement resources???
Good point, how -is- that an efficient use of police resources? It isn't, but it only exists as waste because people insist on arming themselves to the teeth and so, check after check has to be done as a matter of prudent process. Meanwhile, most gun crime is committed by people who would -not- pass a background check. Which is why they buy their pistols peer to peer, aggressively, to the point that a single firearm can end up in trace data across multiple locations and between multiple offenders.
