And, really, what would they have won? I mean, sure, they would have lost Obamacare, but, seriously, if they had really gone through with this, things would have led to an even greater economic recession/depression than the one they've been dealing with for the past few years. Where's the benefit? Maybe if they kept blaming Obama, but they've tried that and nobody fell for it. In fact, the more they do it, the more people blame them for it.
I'm having trouble fathoming what political benefit they expected to receive from this stunt, aside from delighting the morons who already supported them. The Teabaggers' numbers are in the toilet as a result of this; even the less-crazy Republicans can't distance themselves fast enough. And they thought people would be so fucking stupid that they'd blame the President?
I sure as hell don't expect genius from the GOP, but I do expect that these human dung beetles would have a more keenly developed sense of political survival than this! Watching the Tea Party fuck this up and tarnish their already questionable brand has been fascinating.
