Not so much that they think its being lost, more that they think what we do at Christmas has piss all to do with Christianity.

A Jewish colleague once confided to me that she got tired of all the Christmas trappings, that people forget that not everyone is part of that. I told her as a nonreligious person it all made me feel alienated. When she invited me to her son's bar mitzvah, I told her it would just be one more occasion for me to feel like a martian so thanks but no thanks.
Nonetheless I was raised with Christmas and like a lot of the music. We have family to dinner, do stockings, make persimmon pudding. But I am ambivalent and don't send cards. I don't mind if someone wishes me merry Christmas or such like. I just respond with a generic happy holidays regardless.
