What is wrong with that particular assertion is that women are necessary but not sufficient to give life in and of themselves; men are still required.
And what is wrong with the other assertion, that only men can give spiritual life, is easily shown wrong. I think we've all learnt about love from our mothers, and if that ain't spiritual, then I don't know what is.
Your mileage seems to vary.
Women can't get pregnant without them. But we still carry life within us for 9 months and give birth on our own, no man needed while we do both of these amazing and uniquely feminine things. :-)
