My problem with "faith" is that what turns out to be true by faith for any individual is usually the first set of "faith truths" they have come into contact with. So it's arbitrary which "truth" you end up with. And truth doesn't work that way, truth should stand up to inspection. This method is more like a magnet which happens to attract the first big metal object it comes across and then has no room to attract any other ones.
I'll admit if I was born a Jew, I'd probably still be a Jew.
I mean, I'd like to think I'd really investigate the faith and come to find that Christianity makes a lot more sense, but it's impossible to tell if that would happen and chances are it doesn't in the vast majority of cases.
It really does come down to faith. I could be wrong in my faith. Obviously I have a very strong certainty that I am not, but even if I was, I don't feel like I'm losing anything by following the faith I follow right now.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
