Literally the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

RE: Literally the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
The most chilling account I've ever seen of this particularly shameful period in history has to be the BBC/HBO co-production Conspiracy, which I watched for the umpteenth time last night. It's a dramatised recreation of the infamous Wansee Conference which took place in January 1942, at which "The Final Solution to the Jewish Question" was unveiled almost as a fait accompli amidst rich food and fine wine. Truly terrifying and highly recommended.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

The top nazis rather prided themselves on their culture and refinement. All the while ordering the deaths of millions.
There is a story that the first time Himmler witnessed actual executions(two Russian women) he almost fainted.

Not Auschwitz, but Auschwitz II (Birkenau). Auschwitz was a Polish army barracks complex. These locations are a few miles apart.

Bombing public schools in your neighboring countries killing lots of children in failed attempts to hit German targets. Yeah you were awesome. *wink*

Thought I'd bring you down a few notches. Tongue

You want to hear some amazing stories of WWII and good people who did amazing things read the Twentieth Train:

http://www.amazon.com/Twentieth-Train-St...128&sr=8-1

It's a true story about underground resistance fighters in Belgium who stopped a train going to Auschwitz ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twentieth_convoy ) and who along with those already on the train saved over 200 people. It also is an amazing account of the Belgian Underground Resistance as a whole too, it reads like a novel almost it's just an amazing book and I was SOBBING at the end. It makes you feel so small and insignificant when you hear of people like this doing such amazing things and risking everything to save as many as they could.

Presicion bombing was not what we did.

But bombing was an essential part of the war.

every soldier manning an anti aircraft gun around a city was a soldier not fighting at the front.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

Tinkety Tonk and down with the Nazis.

Don't bother defending our carpet-bombing. We were bad.
But the Nazis were far, far worse.

Yes! It's one of the few films about the Holocaust that I truly recommend without hesitation (the others being Sophie's Choice and Judgment At Nuremberg)
