Cosmology more ridiculous than a man gathering two of every animal and keeping them alive for forty days on an ark and then going on to repopulate the world with only his family to reproduce with?
Clearly your opinion of what is and is not riduculous is not important.

Many christians use the idea of a "new covenant" to try to explain away much of the Old Testament. Nevermind that the heinous invention known as hell didn't come around until little 'ol meek and mild Jesus frolicked onto the scene.

if you read the bible you would know that a man did not do this. God did it. i'm not saying God did it because i don't have the answer, but because that is the answer that was already written down in the bible.

again, you should read the bible. hell was mentioned before the time of Jesus. Deuteronomy 32:22, psalm, proverbs, etc. and hell is simply the absence of everything that is good. when you take everything good from this world all you have left is hell.

What would an example of something that god isn't responsible for be? What didn't god do?

no. i respect their opinions but that does not mean i need to worship it. you know many scientists who have PHD's are christians. even those who work with and very well understand theories of cosmology. do i expect you to rush to their books to get their opinions? no.
oh and i didn't see your second question rhythm. what didn't God do? he didn't make the pyramids. he made the material but not the pyramids. he didn't make the empire state building. etc.
