Do you think there's a point to your existence??

That's very arrogant. Very very arrogant.
What makes you think we're the only ones with nature's gift of reason? Billions of stars, billions of planets orbiting them and billions of galaxies. Good chance there are other sapient beings out there. Just saying.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

Playing by your own rules, please provide evidence of this claim.

Evidence that there are billions of stars, planets and galaxies? Just look up a night. Evidence that there are other life forms, we may soon have it. We've spotted some interesting planets in neighbouring systems. The chance of there being other life is fucking huge. When you take into account the amount of stars and planets there are, the odds of there being other life is very high. It's currently based on probability. When you take into account the amount of stars and planets there are. Don't like that do you? Because it'll make us seem less special. Well too bad, we are not the purpose of the universe. Get over it.

And that's just one. There's many that have been detected. Distance is the only barrier for us to over come.

Could be just illusions or humans wanting to think that there is more to the universe than just us. The sheer power of the universe is so hard to comprehend by humans so they assume that something else has to exist besides them. Search will be futile though, as religion does not support these claims.

We are able to understand the universe. Also why can't there be more to the universe than us? And of course religion doesn't support such ideas. They want to feel important. We'll we're not. You're so self important. So self centred. You won't even consider the possibility that we're just biological specks. The universe is really fucking huge and it contains billions of billions of stars, planets and galaxies, and you think we are the purpose of it? That is arrogance.
Our search will not be futile. We won't put down our tools and stop exploring just because religion says so. In years time, probes will be sent to these planets and we will know what's on them whether religion likes it or not.

The odds of there being other life in our galaxy alone is huge.

The problem is that with billions of dollars spent on exploration of the space, scientists have not found anything. Why spend so much when they can simply look up for the answers in the Holy Book.

Your holy book can't answer the questions. Science can. Instead of reading an old book written by people who didn't know any better, we can study the cosmos and explore it with our technology and investigate it for ourselves. Much better way of answering some big questions I think. You can believe what you want, I on the other hand want to find out what's out there.

It's hard to imagine the size of the universe, this may help a little -

And the size of stars -

Still think we're the purpose of the universe?

The problem is Christian ...as Neil De Grasse Tyson has explained -ad nauseum- NO money has been spent in the "exploration of space" half a cent in a dollar for the military budget alone would see MORE results than had been discovered so far.

You book is a worthless bunch of Iron Age Oral tales that have no pertinence to today... nor then, if I am correct.. but to keep a bunch of lazy no hoper con men in a "job" sponging of a gullible public

How deluded can you be? Ignoring the fact that we know nothing about all the possible advanced alien races also having the capacity to use reason - even on earth we are not unique in this manner. Many other creatures have been known and shown to use reason.

It is my opinion that we are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo retarded have STILL to rely on a deity for our self worth that any "alien" species that is capable of contacting us to steer clear (in alarm) and not even try .... we are NOT THAT special...talented for a given value of talent, but not unique.
