I damn well think you should be able to sue, but in the U.S. you know the fundamentalists are going to cry (their version of) separation of church and state. They will be the victims of the government's intrusion into religion. Blah, blah, blah.

Actually I think this is Darwinism at work. I hate to sound callous, but you just can't protect stupid people from themselves. If they're going to be stupid enough to think that praying will cure their HIV instead of relying on medical science to keep their illness in check, then there's probably nothing to keep them from following that path. Though I do think the churches should be held criminally liable for their deaths, just as people who provide quack "cures" for diseases often convince people they're treating to stop going to the hospital.

I would like to see how this is handled.
Because of the religious connotations, no matter how bizarre, I suspect that the Church will be treated lightly and cautiously.
The fact is that they should be tried for murder but if the UK is like here in the US, they will be treated with an air of deference.

As someone who has lost someone very close to me from AIDS, I'm appalled. As a person who has lived on this planet for 28 1/2 years... I'm not surprised.

You're just plain sick Min, these people did not deserve what happened to them, they were probably desperate to be cured and fell into a churches desire to be noticed or some sort of thing as that. Not being privy to all of the matter I only can guess.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

These people didn't deserve to die. I don't know the circumstances or anything about what they were like as people. Maybe some of them were just beyond medical treatment. Even if they were idiots, though, this is still sad.
Even worse, no fundy is even going to care that the church convinced those six people to kill themselves. They'll say it wasn't the same church, or it was god's plan, or something to separate the bulk of their church from this one. So this will continue to happen, again, and again, and again.
What falls away is always, and is near.

If a priest told me to shoot myself, I wouldn't do it. This is no different.
