SOME justice for Turks, 30 years late(r)?
Quote:Turkey's 1980 military coup leaders stand trial

Gen Kenan Evren, 94, who was president from 1983-89, and Gen Tahsin Sahinkaya, 86, are the first Turkish officers to face trial for staging a coup.

...and incarcerating half a million Turks.

Will justice still be served?

I don't want them in jail. I don't send 94 year old people to jail. But I do want them prosecuted in due process, and sentenced if found guilty!

"-When challenged over the execution of a teenage student Gen Evren replied: "Should we feed them in prison for years, instead of hanging them?"-"

Sounds like someone we know..... Is there some doubt as to whether or not these folks will be found guilty? I'm not privy to the politics.

I should hope so! In an open and evenhanded justice system the verdict can never be a foregone conclusion.
We'll see whether Turkey has an open and evenhanded justice system like that now.
