Bill Maher is a snob. He's stuck up, pompous, arrogant, and smug.
And it's hard to be anything else when you're pretty much right all the time. The man is a genius. I never even heard of him until Religulous and that movie was basically what ultimately was the final nail in the coffin, resulting in me completely de-converting. I've only seen a few segments of his show, but each time I see it I always have some good laughs when he lambasts the poor bastards who try to debate him.
I like both Stewart and Colbert equally. Jon's more outright insulting of stupidity [my style] and Colbert is more subtle. He's more of a troll. He IS a troll. He is an IRL troll-master. The man goes to Bush's white house dinner and blasts him all the while staying in character to the point people aren't sure if he's being serious or not. Jon's more the "dear fucking christ what is wrong with these idiots?!" kind of person and Colbert is more the "Oh yes! I agree that the murder of a thousand people is fine as long as it is someone who thinks differently than you!" kind of guy who sounds totally serious. Deadpan comedy. It's a difficult art and he pulls it off really damn well.
The two of them together are a fucking hurricane-level force of comedy.
