Do you read the bible?

Do you read the bible?
I do, but I unnecessarily censor things in my head. It makes it more entertaining.

Luke 9:57-61

To another he said, ----- me.” But he said, “Lord, let me first go and ----- my father.” And Jesus said to him, “Leave the dead to ----- their own dead. But as for you, go and ------- the ------ of God.” Yet another said, “I will ------ you, Lord, but let me first ----- farewell to those at my home.”

I just found that after I made this post. Grrrr

I just saw a show on Nat. Geo called "American Beaver."

No where near what I had hoped for.

Anyway, to answer your question, only when necessary to refute some fundie.

Only when I want to use it in an argument against the bible, or when I want to be grossed the fuck out.

RE: Do you read the bible?
I have read the entire thing from front to back exactly once. I have read bits and pieces over the years before and after that. On a regular basis no, I don't even have a copy in the house. Only one person I live with is a believer and she isn't a strong enough one to have a copy. Though I do plan to buy the leatherbound edition from Barnes and Noble just because I want the entire collection and because even though it's a bible, they did a damn good job of making it quite beautiful.

Holy fuck that was funny! "Nearly naked, body all ripped,....". Oh, fuck me. I'm still laughing but can no longer piss myself since I've emptied the tank.

I have the bible I got at birth. Every child of Catholic parents gets a birth bible. Mine is a Precious Moments keepsake bible, with my name engraved on the cover. I keep it around for some reason.

Humans are naturally sentimental creatures. We keep things we attach emotional value to. We could despise the thing and if someone we love gave it to us it can still be quite hard to get rid of it.

I've read the bible cover to cover, in various translations. Part of that was from my mandatory bible studies as part of my Christian education way back when. The rest is because it's a fantastic source to with which to refute religious arguments.

All that time spent studying the Bible when I could of been spending my teenage years whacking away at it like a little monkey.
*sigh* So much time lost... so much catching up to do.

Tell me about it...and now you see the other side to Pascal's wager!

RE: Do you read the bible?
When I was in the 9th grade we were forced to study the bible (I even wrote an essay about it >>) so I've read some parts of it, but not the whole damn thing.

Also,

is it normal that I replaced every censored word with "fuck" ?
