Their faculties will desert them to such an extent it pains their children to be around them. It will become more and more evident that they are a fossil of an age best left behind serving only as a reminder of what must never return. The problem is that people today take tradition's word for it that their religion is true, ignoring the frightening level of ignorance which the originator of the tradition was subject to. No one believes in Zeus or Ra anymore. Why? Well, becasue there is no reason to believe in them. So why are the religions that persist more valid? The people who worshipped the sun were wrong to think it was a god, but at least the sun exists! And it provides energy to sustain our planet! About the most sensible religion out there (in terms of the validity of its diety, anyway), and it still fails...
