Waiting for the Power to Go Out

RE: Waiting for the Power to Go Out
Sandy's flinging snow our way at present. Started falling last night, they project up to 16 inches at the border, less as you get to the interior. Kind of sucks, you guys are getting hammered and I'm gonna get a nice early show of winter.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

We didn't even lose power! The winds have died down. It's still raining, but not as heavily as last night. I think DC did okay. We even got our newspaper on time this morning! Everything went better than expected. Not sure about NY though.

Same here, we're still alive but with an over-abundance of batteries.

It's probably our lot fucking with the good karma we'd have coming otherwise from all our Christians. Ah well, what are you gonna do?

Great to hear!! Bound to be some re-building needed and then you have to wait until the flood waters subside and then there is the issue of getting food stocks BACK into your area and then................................... etc.

Still, not much loss of life and this is fantastic! Great

RE: Waiting for the Power to Go Out
I just ventured out. It's a ghost-town, but the hardware and grocery stores were open (and I got front row parking!). We've had some water coming in the basement, which Hubby has been diligently shop-vaccing and he wanted me to grab some concrete filler. No real damage, and we had the bonus of finally pinpointing where our leaks were coming from, so it's actually a good thing.
I'm hoping everyone north of DC is okay. It sounds like the power is out to a lot of NJ, PA, and NY. Don't we have a mod who lives in NY? They got a lot of flooding. And I hope ShellB and Tiberius are snuggled up keeping warm. I haven't seen a report on how Boston fared, but hopefully everyone is well.
