He's a horrible horrible being that punishes entire tribes/nations simply because they were born in the wrong location, under the wrong flag, serving a god that was taught to them the same way the hebrew were taught about their god ... from the parents they loved and trusted. I believe what Ryan is trying to say is, your god is a dickhole.
LOL. As I mentioned before, as you get to know me you'll realize that I hold very strong views, but that I really don't give a crap about your frivolous attempts to criticize something, especially if you do it in such a poorly thought out way (this isn't to criticize you by the way, just your argument). You may be mistaking me for someone who doesn't read his Bible.

If your argument was valid, you'd produce evidence of Jesus' immorality. There should indeed be evidence of immorality and insubordination for most Biblical figures - this is inherently implied, it is necessary, we expect it. In fact, if there wasn't, your attack would be "what kind of nonsense is this, are we to believe all of God's prophets were perfect people!? These figures are obviously invented!" Christ is, or so it is supposed, the son of God. So where is the evidence of his rampant immorality?

And as you get to know this forum Daniel... your "views" mean dilddly squat.

Evidence of your godboy is zero, evidence of your deity of choice is zero. Your morality is zero (based on the bible edicts) ergo your integrity is zero.

I appreciate the kind words mate, very nice of you to give me a compliment! I'd prefer an intelligible debate, but hey I can't force you to do something you don't want to do.

Quote:So, according to that person, Jesus expected to find figs growing in the fig tree out of season?

Not according to that person. According to the Bible.

Quote:Plus, what four year olds are able to curse a fig tree and in doing so cause it to wither?

How does that matter? The site is arguing about Jesus' immature emotional reaction, not his (supposed) superpowers. A four year old with superpowers can still have the cognitive and emotional abilities of a four year old.

So, I'd like to address it as its own topic, as it usually comes up within others.

If you are a Christian (at least in the slavish and mindless way Drich is), you are compelled to accept two things:

1: God is all-knowing, all-powerful, everywhere at once. He is the very quintessence of 'good'. He is the ultimate morality. He is the ultimate righteousness.
2. The Bible, and everything in it, are indefatigable truth and must be accepted without doubt or question as factual.

Drich argues the first point frequently, in several contexts. If you point out to him that God is documented, in scripture, as wiping out millions of people without mercy, he will tell you that God is not beholden to Man's morality, as if Man's morality is inferior to that held by someone guilty of genocide.

If one reads the Bible without their critical thinking functions blunted by faith, it is impossible to justify loyalty to God on the basis that he is good and moral, unless you are willing to profess that the actions his own allegedly indisputable text indicts him of are also good and moral actions.
God's also the ultimate judge. You don't like being judged. You think the punishment is too harsh. No surprise there.

Mainstream society doesn't hang its head in shame every time a convicted felon says his judgment was unfair or his punishment too harsh. We expect that. It's no big deal.

Then I deduce that for you it's morally acceptable to kill every first born of your enemies. After all your god did it.

I think your post pretty much proves the point. Christains celebrate genocide as long as it's their god doing it.

Your deduction (actually an induction I believe) is faulty. I used an analogy to human practices. There are actions that are not morally acceptable for me, but are morally acceptable to police, judges, soldiers, etc.

But your "holy" fucking book says it is so and that your fucking "holy" book is infallible...

ergo the religious are nothing more than iron age savages... nothing progressive about them at all.

Police, judges and soldiers have to abide by rules, and very strict ones at that (at least in a free country). And we, as citizens, can judge judges, soldiers and police according to their moral behavior.

I'd say that judges, police and soldiers are even more accountable for their moral behavior than common citizens. More power means more responsibilities, after all.

The all-powerful god, on the other hand, doesn't seem to show much concern for his responsibilities. We have a word for a leader that doesn't feel bound by moral laws. That word is tyrant.

I also think that there should be actions that aren't morally acceptable to any possible being. Genocide is one of them.
