Stages of Republican Grief

Stages of Republican Grief
1. Shock: "What? No, Mitt was supposed to win by a landslide!"

2. Denial: "No, we're calling Ohio too soon! The numbers are there. I'm sure of it. Send someone down to interview our team that called it for Obama!"

3. Anger: "Those stupid Americans who just want stuff. They want things. And Obama is giving them things. That's why..."

4. Bargaining: "OK, we had some stupid candidates like Murdock and Aiken but that doesn't mean we have to give up our far right policies. Maybe if 'evolve' a little on immigration..."

Next step, depression

Have any of them actually reached step four?

If step four includes Ann Coulter claiming all the problems with the GOP can be fixed if they just stop talking about rape or Hannity suggesting that things would have gone differently if they were more open minded about immigration or Bill Kristol suggesting that he's ready to compromise on taxes now, yeah, I've seen all those things happen.

Keep in mind, people go back and forth through those stages of grief.

I don't know which I'm hoping for; if the Republicans get more moderate, they're easier to work with but they can actually win the next midterms. If they stay crazy and extreme it will be hard for Obama to get very much done over the next two years but it also means they get another ass kicking and they lose even more power.

Democrats are the worst enemy the American working class ever had. Republicans, libertarians, Ron Paul fanatics and the like are no better, just more obviously dangerous.

But anyway, it's great that Romney lost! And, this website celebrates it very well.

The republicunts will continue with the circular firing squad for a while but at the end of the line it is still Rush Limbaugh and Glen Beck who are scaring angry white men that they are losing control.

The primaries do not have to worry about attracting "independent" voters which means it will be the worst of the worst making the decision. One wonders next time what they will have for a primary sideshow?

That and Ingraham suggesting that another way can be found that doesn't involve compromising hard line Republican stances.

Quote:The Republicans have to take a lesson from -- and I hate to bring up Reagan again -- when Goldwater got shellacked in '64, Bill Buckley and Brent Bozell Sr. and all these conservatives got together and they said, we're going to figure out how to sell this idea of economic conservatism and the conservative framework to new voters. And they went into the South and they transformed Mississippi and Alabama, all these places where people had never voted Republican before.

This was the "Southern Strategy", which involved stoking racism and pumping white southerners full of fear so they vote Republican. Not sure where the new well of bigotry and fear is going to come from.

Reagan did not have to compete with the talking heads on fascist radio and tv who egg on the know-nothings. Different ball game.

I share your concerns but don't worry. Gay-bashing is so last decade.

I think you may have all seen this, but it has only just got to me, so just in case you haven't.
Any way I don't think enough blame has been put on this girls shoulders.
