Sorry, but my first post was correct. I will drop the subject as well as I do not want it to get heated, but I think we can agree that the "Church" is ran by a bunch of assholes.

From what I gather from a recent discussion of Chris Shelton and Aaron Smith-Levin, the contracts you sign absolutely allow the church to e.g. take you out of psychiatric treatment (as happened with Lisa McPherson before they let her die), but legally, if you so much as utter the words "I hereby rescind my membership in this church" or anything equivalent, their rights to do anything to you are voided.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Your one stop crazy shop.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I dunno; my hand's pretty powerful. It can make a grown woman cry out in rapture and bring me to my knees.

It's also useful for opening pickle jars.

I hereby rescind my future membership, and any membership in a future life, in the church of Scientology.

There, I should be covered, Phew.

Somebody bookmark this post in case I should become incapacitated.

I thought that's what cheerios were for?
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

I love this, especially the second paragraph:

The poor don't know when their fast will end. It's just fooling yourself into thinking you're a better person than you are.

Is that supposed to be persuasive...?
