Why do so many of you quote the bible and do nothing what says in it

Where I live, there are two organizations that care for the poor more than anyone else: the salvation army and the rescue mission. The Christian church does a ton to help the poor.

Why do you feel that you are allowed to lie? When you say that the Christian church does not help the poor, you realize that you are lying, don't you? You are lying through your teeth. Do you care if you are a liar, or are you cynical enough to say things even if you don't know if they are true?

THe problem with that - is that they spend FAR more of the money they collect on Administration and fixed costs to be a worthwhile charity. Most of the money goes to the religion and the church. ANd that is NOT charity.

IN addition - they then use their "charity" as a reason to spread what they claim is the "TRUTH" - when we know it is NOT true - it is belief at best.

A much more common weapon I have use atheists use is mocking people while showing them a lifestyle in which they don't have to obey any rules and can do anything they want.

Sorry - but your claim that there are no rules is simply not true.
WHERE once a small group of human religious leaders provided the "rules" - today - the rules are law supported by large portions of the population - regardless of their religion. Atheists have NEVER been shown to be less moral or ethical than the religious - and in fact - statistics show that atheists are not only less likely to commit a crime - but are less likely to murder - than Xtians in general.

I am guessing you consider "administration costs" to be things like teaching homeless people the wisdom of the Bible to help them get off the streets and you advocate replacing this teaching with just meeting material needs.

There are some Christians who profit excessively from their ministries, this is an issue, but most do not.

So you were right about the rapist being put to death. You just missed the part where the woman who was raped also dies.

You would be complaining if they killed the children, and you would be complaining if they didn't. How are you supposed to take captive an entire village in the ancient world and keep them alive without them rebelling against you? Are you a military expert?

That verse teaches a distinction between consensual sexual activity and non-consensual. It most definitely punishes rape with death, it also punishes adultery with death.

It is almost like all atheists have resources where they cut and paste phoney Bible studies without any of them having a knowledge of the Greek and Hebrew. These issues have been covered a million times, the Bible does not sanction rape. It punishes adultery. Atheists take complicated teachings of scripture and make them fit their own pressupositions, but they have never been trained in exegesis, and frankly, they don't want to learn (another thread on this).

How are you supposed to teach people who refuse to learn? The Bible was not written in the english language or english culture you know, and it is not intended to be interpreted with a wooden literalism.

The Bible only stones women for rape in versions that you read in the English language that are being read by atheists who don't know what the word exegesis means that use principles of "common sense interpretation" developed by Penn Gillette.
