How do you debated a Muslim?

Whether or not you agree with Islam, you have to live in a world with people who do. It doesn't help anyone for you to just hate Islam and Muslims. It would be better if you tried to find common ground, or at least be tolerant of their existence. What's going on in the Middle East and the history there is too complicated for most westerners to understand. Your opinions on Islam are ignorant ones. Mine is too.

All I know about Islam is that there are good and bad Muslims. I know a lot of good ones. I even know feminist Muslims. I consider myself a feminist as well. You shouldn't judge Islam on its attitudes towards women because they're working with a completely different framework than we are. It's going to take a lot longer to make progress in the Middle East, and blind hatred doesn't help.

Let me get this straight. You are a self proclaimed feminist and are lecturing me, a five appendaged homo sapien, in a manner that suggests I should ignore the abject cultural mistreatment of women because I lack an understanding of 'framework'?

I'm confident that Gloria Steinem would rather suck my dick than listen to your excuse.

Can you point out where I speak of a "world free of religion"?????

Your religion, in your quoran, makes a claim to total and unquestional political power. Whilest other ideologies may have learned to act within the democratic relaim, religions always claim total unquestionable power.

Quote:Atheists have never committed atrocities and never would

This strawmen doesnt deserve a reply but a Flammenwerfer.

Quote:Is this what you are telling me KichigaiNeko

Seriously - is that your level?

Is this really something you believe??!

No she isnt telling that, it is what you want her to say cause you dont have any arguments against what she really wrote.

You call someone out because of being on a "lower level" based on something they didnt even say?
This is not just simply lieing but defamation, so stop it!

Quote:Oh Sorry - I just found out an article saying that Stalin's horrific abuses in the name if atheism were actually due to an abusive religious upbringing.

Another cheap strawman!!!

Learn some bloody history!!!! The cleansings in which Christian priests and bishops, conservatives, social democrats, clerics, uni professors, union organisers, monarchists, sailors, buisness owners, industrialists, landowners, big farmers, and others were murdered arent any different to the cleansings which took place in other authoritarian states!
Every dictatorship had it`s cleansings and as it happens to be russian orthodox christianity was seen as the enemy of communism - which is why the cleansing of that church started ! under Lenin ! and was continued under Stalin!

Just like how today in almoust every single muslim country on the globe jews have been expeled, murdered and driven off their property by muslims. Christians are currently having to endure the same treatment by muslims as the jews did 50 years before, and people who leave islam and atheists are punished.

And to compare evil with another evil - doesnt make one evil better!!!
Everyone stands to deal with the responsibility to take from his/her/their crimes.

Hereby your argument goes up in flames!

Quote:Had his parents been atheist he would have automatically been a lovely chap... so basically all evil and abuse only ever comes from religion then - is that what you are telling me?

Can you point out where she mentioned that "only religious people abuse kids" in this thread!?

go and shove your strawmen up your ....!!!

He can talk to you about 21st century America not being the only social set up.

He can show you that although it doesn't work in this culture, the evidence shows that in that extremely different culture (where people died much younger) which has different maturity levels - both physically and mentally - this relationship was not in anyway unfair to anyone involved and the evidence shows a mature relationship that flourished in its own context.

Not even the most virelant enemy of Islam had tried to portray the relationship as a bad thing until someone in a society so different from them applies their own (changing) societal limits as the only one.

I expect you won't accept that a society can be so different - but that is what the evidence shows: a loving relationship of mutual respect that fit perfectly well.

Then again lots of people in the UK and the USA do have 'imposing their way of life on to other people' as part of their secular religion. This society is not present day West. You're going to have to try to prove against this evidence that such a relationship just isn't possible.

I'm sure you'll try to add details that just aren't there too!

Who is "He" and where does "He" talk about that?

What evidence?

What is a "different maturity level"?

What evidence?

Quote:Not even the most virelant enemy of Islam had tried to portray the relationship as a bad thing until someone in a society so different from them applies their own (changing) societal limits as the only one.

A person can only be mature when biologicaly mature or when the phase of reaching biological maturety has been reached - called puperty.
Someone in puperty - is not mature - fact - based on scientific obervation and resulting scientific theory.

Quote:I expect you won't accept that a society can be so different - but that is what the evidence shows: a loving relationship of mutual respect that fit perfectly well.

Which evidence?

A working functional releationship between a minor and adult is not an excuse for setting the legal limitations of maturity at a lower level, this would only give abusers the possibility of staying within a legal relaim.

Being different, does not mean one deserves tolerance.

We dont accept women being seen as property, arranged marrieges and discrimination of non muslims, just like we wouldnt accept hindu widow burning.

What is a "secular religion"?

Where and how is "secular religion" imposed? And by whom?

What the fuck is "present day West" or what is it not?

What evidence?

You know what Germans - I've just realised you know so little about Islam and assume so much that it is just nonsense backstory that it is truly pointless talking to you.

You will say the same of me I guess, in your arrogant way, but to be honest I have studied it for years from both Muslim and non-Muslim experts from the top education establishments in the UK and the Muslim world. You will not take anything on board that goes against this idea that Muslims can and are pro democracy, pro choice and generally not wanting to be unfair to women (most Muslim converts are women - and when I say women I mean string individuals able to make their own choices in life).

But you just love your bogeyman story far to much - I just hope the common man here believes what the people with knowledge suggest - not spooked out hate preachers like yourself.
