Biblical Inerrancy - mandatory to be Christian?
RE: Biblical Inerrancy - mandatory to be Christian?
1) God said, No. 2)It usurps Providence. 3)Life is a good regardless of its stage of development. 4)God said, No. 5)Because I said so. 6) The soul is nurtured in the physical body before proceeding to its spiritual body 7)God said, No.

I'll pretend you're not a Divine Command theorist and think you mean what I mean if I were to say "God says no". While #5 has a great ring to it, I think we'll just completely hijack this thread and talk about 2, 3, and 6 (and one I hope is refuted). I'm going to give a brief and probably really bad argument first, so just tear it to shreds.

The only definition of Providence I know is "God's grand plan", so that's what I'm going with. If the body truly is not good, then God's grand plan should be to kill us all. God should want to replace it with something good, and the first thing necessary is to get rid of the worse body (it's called death). Now, death is a good thing. Now, suicide is a good thing because you're choosing what may be painful for something better. Now we have biblical issues with death given as a punishment in genesis 3.

Life is good regardless of its stage of development, but the body is limiting development. Since a person doesn't need a body to be a person, removing the body actually frees the prisoner from their prison, you actually don't die when the body dies, therefore it's not murder/suicide.

The soul is nurtured in the physical body so that one day it might have a spiritual body. Therefore the spiritual body isn't actually better, it just has more room to grow, else the ford explorer is better than a challenger and a U-haul is better than a ferrari.

Finally, the new one. Manicheism. The body is just a shell around me, and doesn't really have to do with me. Therefore, all the sins of the body don't apply to me. Sex? It's not me doing it, but the body. Theft? Just my body.
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
