I'd be interested to know some of the reasons (other than 'there is no evidence' because I'd assume that reason anyway) people don't believe in a god- I think it's good to see things from another's perspective. I won't be trying to debate you on this thread.

Let me start with stating that my core position is that I care if my beliefs are true, or at least likely to be true.

The most reliable and consistent method to assure the above is to base beliefs on demonstrable evidence, reasoned argument, and valid and sound logic.

If someone makes a claim, and it is not supported by the above criteria, I do not believe their claim.

My atheism is a provisional position. As long as there continues to be insufficient demonstrable evidence, reasoned argument, and valid and sound logic to support the claim that a god exists, my atheism will continue.

Faith is not a path to knowledge. Faith is the noises that theists make when they do not have good reasons for their beliefs.

I was Christian (Roman Catholic, specifically) for quite a while. I started to doubt my beliefs around six years ago. I can't pinpoint exactly when I stopped believing, but I think it was around four years ago. Actually, quite recently, I tried making a return to religion, but I couldn't. It just didn't make sense anymore.

And I'm perfectly fine with being atheist. I'm actually kind of glad I am.

I find the idea of a god incomprehensible and unnecessary. Of all the things which may exist only in our imaginations this seems to be prime example.

Long story short: I don't know, I don't care and I don't invest belief in silly stuff.
