Who wouldn't? Bada-bum tcha!
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

And what do we say to listening to idiots? Not today! Big Grin
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Argument from Authority is a fallacious argument under one of two conditions:

1. Authority is not an authority in the area discussed (i.e. Newton was a Christian and he was a brilliant physicist so Christianity must be true).

2. Argument is said to be true ONLY because of the say-so of an authority with no evidence provided.

In the second instance, "cause I said so" is never a good argument even for a respected expert. Even experts are required to provide evidence for why they believe what they do.

Example: I don't believe in evolution because Richard Dawkins says so. I believe in evolution because of the supporting evidence.

"The trinity can be equated to having your cake and eating it too."

"(Yahweh's) actions are good because (Yahweh) is the ultimate standard of goodness. That’s not begging the question"

wikipedia Wrote:Argument from authority (argumentum ad verecundiam), also authoritative argument and appeal to authority, is an inductive-reasoning argument that often takes the form of a statistical syllogism. Although certain classes of argument from authority can constitute strong inductive arguments, the appeal to authority is often applied fallaciously: either the authority is not a subject-matter expert, or there is no consensus among experts in the subject matter, or both.

When you cited a chemist's rejection of evolution as evidence that evolution was false (at least I think that is what it was about) it was fallacious because the chemist was not a subject-matter expert.

Perfect.

The only way to argue by authority is use God. When your audience doesn't believe in God, you can't use authority.

You guys are dumb. I'm not going to argue about this anymore. An argument from authority is not categorically fallacious, anyone who thinks it is is just ignorant of basic academic knowledge and is ignorant of the probabilistic nature of science and learning. If you think an argument from authority is categorically fallacious, it is because you learned how to think from reading a website, not from a real university.

The university, an authority, told you to listen to... authority... Sounds sketch to me.

A university is a place where you would learn real logic, a website is a place where you would learn about "No True Scottsman" and how "An argument from authority is a fallacy".
