At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Not as far as Hitler was concerned.

Quote:"My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was His fight for the world against the Jewish poison. To-day, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed His blood upon the Cross. As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice... And if there is anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly it is the distress that daily grows. For as a Christian I have also a duty to my own people.

-Adolf Hitler, in a speech on 12 April 1922

Certainly. Do you have experience with Buddhism?
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

Fresh out, I'm afraid. I've got a couple of copies of Fly Fishing by J R Hartley, if you're interested.

Actually, I was rather more interested in the implication that a belief in god or gods is separate from the supernatural, at least enough for you to make the distinction.

You can have faith and beliefs without having a belief in a god or gods. Most Westerners are hard-wired to accept that you can't have religion without God, but that's just because Western society is largely founded on Abrahamic faith (mixed in with pagan beliefs).

A good example in a modern context would be Star Wars before all the microorganism BS. There was no god in that saga, but there was a sense of spirituality, of cosmic forces.

I agree, but the question is can you have a belief in god/s without a belief (or acceptance) of the supernatural?

Of course he ignores the flat out proof his assertion is wrong, of course.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

One thing I do not understand. If no God exists, then why are you using your precious moments on Earth convincing already devout
atheists about the non-existence of a supreme being? Also, the Christians following these threads are presumably strong enough in their faith to not be swayed by the arguments.
If I was an atheist, I would be living life to the fullest for myself, now and every second I breathe, because there is nothing at the end. Your life on earth will end at any time and then the world will forget your name and no one will care.
What a wonderful reality!
However, I do believe in a loving, heavenly Father who is both merciful and just and this is my motivation in life, to give to others, to love people. Hope brings peace,
God Bless,
Paul.

Hope brings peace, Palko. We atheists hope, too.

You can believe in Santa Claus for all I care, pal. It's not going to make him real.

The only time I think about your god...or any other god ever invented by human imagination...is here. It would be nice to converse with rational people about other subjects but too many of your ilk keep showing up and insisting that your "beliefs" are somehow worth something.
