A psychopath weighing in on what's psychopathic...that's rich.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

I actually think it's rude to get in the way of a domestic dispute, if you think there's going to be violence then call the police. I still remember when I was young, a young woman who was a neighbour came round to our house crying and asked us if she could use our telephone. So she used it and kept calling, and crying, she must have been there for like 2 hours. And then after she left, I asked my mum what the hell all that was about. She told me that the woman thinks that her husband is cheating on her and blocking her calls. Note to everyone: If you think your partner is cheating on you, don't go crying to your neighbour it!! They don't want to know.

The police explained it by way of an analogy: If someone texts you and says "I'm gonna burn your house down", not illegal. If they show up on your porch with a can of gasoline and say the same thing, it is.
In my state all it takes for a criminal threat charge is to tell someone you're going to harm them and they have reason to believe that you will. So if you're horsing around with someone and they laughingly say "I'm gonna kick your ass" then it's not a threat. But if someone's pissed off at you, carrying a baseball bat and says, "I'm going to kill you" then it would be a criminal threat. Same goes if some pussy sends you a text saying that he's going to kill you. All you have to do is tell the cops you believe he might try it and they can charge him.

Yep, that's how it works in the UK as well.

Then you keep your fingers crossed that the police and prosecuting attorney also see it as a credible threat instead of blowing it off.

You're welcome to your opinion of course. For me, it's a question of "what can I live with?". If the asshole escalates to physical violence (as he has done many, many times in the past), and I do nothing to prevent it, can I live with that decision?
Regarding it being a domestic dispute, these people are family to me, and I to them. More so than the abusive ex. The only reason he is even in the picture is because of the custody agreement involving her 13 year old. The other son has disowned him and wants nothing to do with him.
The guy is a sperm donor with a court order, taking an opportunity to revisit terror on two of his former victims, not part of a domestic unit.
Calling it a domestic dispute is laughable.

Thus why I'd rather pop the dumbass in his mouth- for what came out of his mouth, eh? It;s my honest contention...that someone who feels compelled to -tell you- that he's going to kill you......isn't actually going to do much else about it, by and large. At the same time...I think that people might need to be reminded that there's a good reason not to say weird ass things like that. I don;t know that it requires tax dollars and police to handle - but obviously, we can't be fucking trusted...so meh.

Hehehe, here, solicitor more often means someone who is asking you for money. Two countries separated by a common language...and all that jazz.

Speaking as an abuse victim, there's a difference between a whiny bitch, and a family dealing with a strung-out abusive husband/father. A huge difference.
Would that someone had heard and stepped in when I was a kid. Maybe my dad would have gotten the help he needed a lot sooner.
