God exists because truth (logic) and goodness (morality) do. They are eternal, immutable, invisible, and universal. They do not need to be taught, but are wired into the brains of people everywhere. They bring the human race together and lead it to an origin that is beyond us.

This shows some very healthy self-reliance rather than the eagerness for self abdication I usually encounter. Kudos to you sir. Kudos I say. I appreciate that so much I almost hesitate to ask, but how much weight do you give the bible in your understanding of how to live a good life? And, hypothetically, if you came to believe that the bible was not so much divinely dictated by God so much as it was a collection of bits early Christians found inspiring, would your faith in God survive? |
