One question for Christians

So, do you actually have a response to the similarities between the earlier epic of Gilgamesh and your own holy book? Or just another showing of your inability to see that "what you think," and "true things" are not always one and the same?

Oh, and what is your response to, say, the passage in Isaiah that specifically mentions the "circle of the earth." Circles is flat, dude.

And all this, from a book supposedly filled with divine truths... Thinking

Especially when said "circle" is the base of a tent and the sky is described as the walls of the tent drawn over it.

Quote:Isaiah 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

And remember, GC, that just telling us where to go find it is not the same as showing it. I can show you my penis right now to prove that I have one, and that automatically makes my presentation greater than your god.

Beautiful. Thank you, Isaiah, for clearly stating the worldview of the people of your day.

Let's not forget this bit of genius from Matty 2

Quote:9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.

Ignorant assholes who thought that stars were lights in the sky that could bounce along ahead of them like lanterns!

Let's not forget the moon being a light source to rule the night!

Genesis 1:16 Wrote:God made two great lights--the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.

So, what is the light source of a flashlight?
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Given that the apparatus of a flashlight actually -is- the origin of that light, perhaps implying some comparison to the moon will not turn out the way one might hope - as it is just reflecting light.

This particular belief in such a passage is simply irreconcilable with reality. Somebody wrote it in, fucked it up.

The moon is not a light source. Period. What is it you're trying to argue here, GC?

Godschild has a glow-in-the-dark sundial so he can tell what time it is at night.

Light source? Show me in Genesis where it says the Moon is a light source and not just a light (something that makes things visible or affords illumination: Webster’s)? I have no idea what this has to do with the OP but since it’s about as interesting I'll play along.

How does a flashlight project the light that is generated by the bulb?
