If you were capable of nuance, you'd understand my actual position, which is that this bible drop is nothing more than self aggrandizing piety porn on the part of the christians involved, and that rather than actually having an effect on a dictatorship that we all agree should be disassembled, it actually poses a direct threat to the people likely to receive these bibles.

Do you read posts before you disagree with them, or does your nonbeliever antenna just come up when you look at the religious beliefs of the poster, and decide for you?

No, my thoughts would be to help the people of North Korea with what they actually need: food, medical supplies and other assistance. Not replacing a quasi-religion with another religion.

And these people aren't thinking of the consequences of their actions: people found with bibles are going to be executed by the authorities.

I'm reminded of the Christian groups who turned up in Haiti after the earthquake, all smiles and full bellies, with bibles to hand out to the starving, homeless, traumatised survivors and somehow thought they were doing those people a favour.

Help them with material support first. You can try to convert them later if they're willing.

Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni:

Come to think of it, a bible's pretty heavy on its own, least of all in boxes falling from the sky. I wouldn't want to be right below a balloon with a (randomly timed!) dropping mechanism for those things.

Hey, do you guys think that North Korean construction standards are high enough that a sudden heavy impact on the roof of a poor citizen's dwelling would go unnoticed? 'Cause I sure as fuck don't!

But you're right, Drich: this was clearly a well thought out act of political dissidence made to free the North Korean people from the tyranny of their leader, and not at all a ham handed derpfest from a bunch of people who just wanted to stroke their jesus boners a little more publically. Dodgy

Ifs thats what they actually wanted then there are much better texts they could dropped, like Rousseau's the social contract or Plato's republic or john Locke's Two Treatises of Government. In fact not only is it piety porn as esquilax stated, but it could also be pretext for a war. if they interpret this a American affront to Kim Jung un's power this could give him the war north Korea has been hungry for.
