The way it was explained to me was that you can commit the sin of fornication even with your thoughts. Your body was supposed to be reserved only for your future spouse and if you had pleasure beforehand, it was cheating.

The act of masturbation is not in the Bible; however, I find it incredulous to think that pulling out and spilling seed is bad (Genesis story of Onan), but hosing down the town on your own is perfectly acceptable. Christian prudes love to say that this is just a story to show an act of rebellion and really has nothing to do with sexual activity.

As for me, I spill more seed than Muhammaded Ali filling a bird feeder.

It's just one of those things that "feeds your inner beast" as many other Earthly pleasures will so doesn't ideally a support a spiritual growth/enlightenment. You won't be bringing out your Christ nature if you wank 5 times a day to porn.
