Abortion and Women's Rights
May 25, 2014 at 12:32 pm
It's claimed that the pro-life movement really exists because pro-lifers don't want women to be equals with men. Being anti-abortion in other words is one major way they can bolster traditional patriarchy. If that's the case, then why are so many pro-lifers women? From my experience, the most vocal (and annoying) pro-lifers are women. Are these women wanting to limit their own freedom? Are they wanting to be subservient to men? Why?
My ignore list

Because they're likely Christians. They'd probably give up any basic freedom if they believed it pleased God, and they believe that abortion is explicitly condemned in the Bible. (Which it's not.)

They are simply allowing their emotional subjectivity to get the best of them.

That claim probably isn't entirely true.

I still haven't really worked out why Christians tend to be pro-life.
Do fetuses go to heaven? They don't believe in Jesus, but they are sinless?

It would be interesting to see what the percentage of men pro-lifers next to women pro-lifers is.

I think it depends on your flavor of Christianity. I was told that unbaptised babies go to limbo.

They still have original sin, so they totally burn.

Fetuses (fetusi??) don't go to heaven or hell. They don't have souls till their first breath, so they are not marked by original sin. They are no more a person than a wad of hair, a severed limb, or fingernail clippings.
It's in the Bible. Really
