Maybe there is another offseting mindset that realizes, hmmmm, I now only need to work a finite number of hours to put myself through college?

The minimum wage has been around for a long time and has been raised several times. Unemployment rates have been tracked since before it was implemented. If there still isn't evidence that the minimum wage is a significant causative factor in raising employment after 80 years, there never will be.

Quote:because industries had to downsize massively after investor fuck ups.

Are you sure that it was due to investor fuck-ups, dear? It might have been the (ahem) invisible hand of the market!

That invisible hand was fondling the balls and taint of a privileged few and then forcing the rest of us to smell its fingers afterwards.

Repubs have been bitching about the minimum wage since New York State passed the first one. They had a rabid fit when FDR got the first federal minimum wage passed that set the pay at 25 cents an hour. They've been whining ever since, hoping for a return to slavery.

No point starting a new thread....

Quote:The restaurant industry is a huge minimum-wage employer and lobbies hard against raising the minimum wage—but it sure does pay its CEOs well:

Last year, according to a new analysis from the Economic Policy Institute (EPI), the CEOs of America's top 25 restaurant corporations, including McDonald's, Burger King, the Cheesecake Factory, Chipotle, and Jack in the Box, took home an average of 721 times the money minimum wage workers did, and 194 times the take-home of the typical American worker in a production or non-supervisory job. Restaurants and food services employ nearly half of all American workers who earn the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour (or less).

I worked as a nanny for a McDonalds CEO once. He built himself a new house wherever he went. Four story ones with elevators. He paid me $15/hr.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

Unsurprising that he values his kids more than his employees.
