I never got the fast food/minimum wage thing. Those meals are empty, the most expensive thing about a damned soda is the cup it came in. It's not as though the margins are slim.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
It's all explainable by "greed."

Yeah.......but Min..I'm greedy as shit.....one of the reasons that I make the money I make is the wages I pay. I get folks who do the job right, and do it well. It's actually a huge part of my marketing. Ultimately, what I pay out in labor, if you graphed it relative to my profits, is even smaller than what operations that employ illegals at criminal rates pay out. Human decency is a value added strategy for my product.

Farm labor. Theres alot of smiling and fistpumping involved, it's not your run of the mill "go pick those round red things Juan" kind of farm labor, but still.

I guess you don't want to be "rich?"

Oh I'd love to get there buddy, but it's a long con...a looong, looong con. With my commitments to my ex and my family (inc my brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews) I'll probably stroke out in my squash rows before I ever make it. But I suppose that's probably the root of it, what I consider "rich" and what they consider "rich" are entirely dissimilar. I can't call the proceeds of exploitation wealth, I call it a liability. I don't want my descendants (hopefully still doing what daddy did - or better, otherwise I wouldn't buy the property rights) to find themselves with their necks in a noose. Honestly, if I tried to do what everyone else was doing - to get "rich"- I'd just lose money. I've tried it.
