This kind of thinking (or should I say, nonthinking) is foreign to me.
I'd rather believe what is true, or at least likely to be true, than believe what is comfortable.
The best method to accomplish this is by basing beliefs on demonstrable evidence and reasoned argument. Not faith.
Faith is not a path to truth. Faith is gullibility.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

You can believe the esrth is flat and at the centre of the universe, I am not going to argue against it.
It is good to have your own views.

But the point is that I would still believe it even if shown to be completely wrong.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

The reason for my believe is simple. I am a sinner that needs forgiveness

Who told you that?

I wouldn't argue against you rather I would tell you that I believe the earth is round.
I realised it myself and through the Bible found forgiveness
