I've heard of people holding three jobs, but not four. That's crazy. I'm all for raising the minimum wage to keep up with inflation. You'd think that would be the default.

You don't understand the republitarianeo-conazi mindset. Raising the minimum wage would mean that they would make less profit PLUS those people would be off welfare which would mean that the republicunts couldn't bitch about them anymore.

I keep hearing that raising the MW would raise the prices of everything else in an endless cycle of rising prices. That's why my parents are against it, anyway.

When the minimum wage was implemented in England everyone said that it would cause unemployment, disrupt business, etc, but it did nothing of the kind. Tbh, the employment laws in the States are awful, some people get no holidays at all, 10 days is usual (30 in Europe), zero hours contracts, no job security. Maybe Americans should consider swapping some junk food and useless consumer durables for a more comfortable way of living.

So long as people think capitalism is only a cure and not also a cause of humanity's ills, convincing them that a living wage should be mandatory will sound like tyranny to their ears (because you know, tyrants should have to earn their position through hard work!)

It's even more urgent when you have a healthcare system like the US does. Stuff like vaccines should be available freely, hospitals shouldn't need to worry about making profit and healthcare shouldn't bankrupt the people who need it.
