Secular reasons for and againt same sex marriage

Why is it that people believe legalizing homosexual marriages would somehow abolish heterosexual relationships?
With the current population count increasing exponentially, and the apparent failure of birth-control strategies, I am rooting for all homosexual couples to save this world.

Secular Objection 3 is just plan wrong. What is wrong giving same sex marriage the same benefits? What is it going to cause? What makes heterosexual relationships better than homosexual?

I am sorry, but secular objection #4 is unfounded. I have a friend who has lesbian parents, and he will adjusted lawyer. He is heterosexual, and married to his wife for 10 years. I have yet to see any studies on for the parent types.

Religious liberties? Same Sex marriages are not forcing religious heterosexuals to turn into homosexuals. The USA is found on a religious free government. No one is forcing them to leave their religion. Religion should not hold any power over the government. The government guarantees their ability to practice their religion peacefully as long it does not interferes or harms others.

How is that supposed to work if same sex marriage is said to have no impact whatsoever upon heterosexual marriage? Also, don't forget that females can use artificial insemination to have children.

The fear they have with respect to religious liberty is that it would eventually turn into the state forcing churches to perform same sex marriage in spite of they being opposed to it, declaring opposition to same sex marriage and hate speech, etc.

My reasons for are simple:

1. It's none of my business what two consenting adults do.
2. So long as they're not hurting others (see one, above).

You know, churches claiming Biblical fidelity, and acknowledgement of Jesus Christ as the Son of God, that permit remarriage after divorce fail my test (and I would hope most everyone else's) test of sincerely held religious beliefs.

Maybe they NEED to be forced to perform gay marriage's, since they aren't really a religious organization . . . . Or at least get fucking HONEST, announce a revelation or a schism, and quit being fucking hypocrites.

Yep, that difference between words and deeds might come back to bite 'em in this world,

Marriage is not required and not about for procreation. Procreation has been preformed without marriage, and I think the human race will continue on.

But, all families will have their ups and downs. No family is ever perfect, and nor should they try. Just be the best person you can be.

Ummm the law only forces the state authority to issue marriage license, and I do not see churches being force to issue marriage license. I am willing to bet, if the gays or lesbians are willing to be married at a church, that they attend the church and are accepted by the church.

I've seen that response many times in these sorts of discussions. The surefire way to disarm it is to point out to the (usually Christian) person saying this is that by that logic, we should require all worshipers to be Muslim. They're free to be religious, but only in a way prescribed by the state.

To which they would likely reply that "congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion", it would be unconstitutional whereas refusing to recognize same sex marriage is not.

... which is clearly incorrect, for exactly the same reason: that a Hobson's Choice is no choice at all.
