What could a omnipotent God want with the worship of humans?

The kind of people that think they have all the answers, and if they plot out a kid's entire life they're sure that kid will succeed. Or maybe the kind of person who just wants to relive their childhood through their kid.
People who are more concerned about what their child does, than who their child is. And depending on the belief system, it's possible that the only thing that god demands is worship; for those denominations that accept deathbed conversions, how you lived has no bearing on your eternal fate: whether or not you agreed to worship forever is the only thing that matters.

'Love me or else...' isn't a good solution. Such kind of worship looks more as a way to stroke one's ego.

We are in his image :p which is why we prefer the walking dead and other gory entertainment that is based on the suffering of humans. 
Humans have a needy ego which craves acceptance, gods could not have this weakness and be all powerful and god like.
