The point of putting bodycams on cops is so that we can see what the cops are doing.
Is that supposed to make us feel better, though. It doesn't even seem to slow the cops down.

It allows people to make informed decisions on the behavior of their police.

It allows us to make informed decisions. It doesn't allow us to do anything about it. The police are almost always above the law.

The law will most certainly change because we got to see how the police actually behaved in the Gardner case. After it does, next time someone dies because of a choke hold, a cop will be prosecuted.
The cop who shot Oscar Grant was prosecuted and it probably would not have happened if it weren't for the video.
It baffles me that people are even making the claim "what is the point of body cameras". Well the point of the body cameras is so that the policed can police the police.

I just don't share your confidence in the system, Woodie. Until there are independent prosecutors appointed who are not asshole-buddies of the cops things will never change.

I definitely think they should have to wear them. I'm just not so sure that anything will actually change. Call it a lack of faith...

The police in this country are not so powerful that we can't force change on their behavior if we don't like it.

Far more are shot by trigger-happy cops.

It should not matter but I think it does. If I am stopped by a cop ( I am white) would they call for backup? If they did call for backup would there be a van of cops? I was just wondering why so many cops responded. I think race may have something to do with it, that's why I asked if you were black or white if it matters so much im half white, half black I am usually mistaken for Hispanic or middle eastern
