Should Churches Remain Tax-Exempt?
RE: Should Churches Remain Tax-Exempt?
They should not remain tax exempt. Churches are run like a business anymore, they are past from one generation to the next and kept in the family often. They keep it in the same family for one reason....MONEY, surprised you huh.
None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.

I don't care if you take donations in the name of the Green Monkey Gods of the Alps so long as as of your donations go to the poor, hungry, and sick. But if your Church keeps half your donations as pocket liner than they should get the shit taxed out of them.
Non-profits are allowed to pay their staff. There's a certain expectation that the staff of a non-profit will accept a lower wage but they still have to make it worth a good administrators time or else they'll waste what donations they have in an inefficient strategy. That's what makes it so sad, really, when churches find themselves on the wrong side of a very relaxed law and standard. It's not hard to qualify, legally.
