They ALL claim to speak for God, who clearly needs a lot of mouthpieces.

Using Bigotry to Hide an Authoritarian, Christian Nationalist Agenda
Earlier this week, as the Trump administration ramped up its Iran war and as a growing number of soldiers complained that their Christian nationalist commanders were essentially describing the fight as a Holy War against non-believers, Tennessee Representative Andy Ogles announced on social media that “Muslims don’t belong in American society.” Not to be outdone, his colleague Florida Representative Randy Fine, compared Muslims unfavorably to dogs, writing on X, “If they force us to choose, the choice between dogs and Muslims is not a difficult one.”
Condemning the remarks of Ogles and Fine ought to be low-hanging fruit. It’s not as if you need to hack through a jungle of ambiguity to understand either comment. In a functioning multiethnic, multiracial democracy, the leaders of all major political parties should be able to instantly disavow such flame-throwing without worrying about a backlash from their base. But this is Trump’s authoritarian United States, and in such a landscape, the congressional leaders of the GOP have more than made their peace with evermore extreme racial and religious bigotries.
When challenged by Democratic leaders to condemn Ogles and Fine—and maybe even to censure them—Speaker Mike Johnson put on a master class of evasion. Johnson said that he had spoken to the pair about their “tone,” as if it would have been perfectly acceptable to advocate the expulsion of Muslims had the language just been a little more polite. The real issue, Johnson then announced, is that “the demand to impose Sharia law in America is a serious problem.”
Um, no. The risk of Sharia law being imposed on the United States is probably smaller than the risk of a civilization-destroying asteroid crashing into Earth.
Though plenty of places are being taken over by Christian nationalists, with their vision of religious rule that is shockingly, depressingly similar to Sharia law. I can’t think of an elected official in the country advocating for the imposition of Sharia law, though there are large numbers who subscribe to end-time visions and Christian nationalist extremism.
Nonetheless, earlier this month, the Texas GOP put to its primary voters a nonbinding resolution on whether to ban Sharia law. It was an obvious stunt to drive the base to the polls this primary season. There’s zero evidence that the Lone Star State, in which more than one in four residents are evangelical Protestants, is about to fall to Taliban-style Islamic fundamentalism. Of course, to no one’s surprise, GOP voters overwhelmingly voted against Sharia law. Surely, Texans are now sleeping much easier this week.
Why talk about the fact that nearly 4 million Texans have no access to healthcare, that in several southern counties in the state nearly half of residents live below the poverty line, or that the maternal mortality rate, already one of the highest in the country, jumped more than 60 percent over the past decade, when political “leaders” can instead tilt at the windmill of Sharia law?
Speaker Johnson, we can all agree that the imposition of extremist religious views signals the death knell of secular, constitutional governance. But Johnson, it turns out, is pretty selective about which religious extremism he rejects.
Cintrolled by an increasingly Christian nationalist leadership, the GOP majority in Congress is in thrall to the notion that Trump is a modern-day King Cyrus sent to deliver God’s will; and it has shown itself only too willing to cast aside its constitutionally mandated decision-making role.
Most recently, this has manifested in its shameful refusal to rein in Trump’s military ventures, thus allowing the administration to pursue its catastrophic, bloody military intervention, seemingly launched with no long-term strategy, in the Persian Gulf.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Former Trump administration official William Wolfe admits that he and his fellow Christian nationalists intend to gain power and impose their morality upon everyone: "Frankly, yes, we are going to impose it upon you. If you don't like it, I'm sorry."

Forget Space Stations—Russian Priest Says Russia Needs an Autocratic Tsar
A high-ranking Russian Orthodox priest suggested that Russia must revive autocratic monarchical rule to reclaim its status as a global civilization, The Moscow Times reported on March 18.
Protopriest Maxim Minyaylo, senior priest of Yekaterinburg’s Church on the Blood, made the comments in response to a pro-war Russian media channel post suggesting a new orbital space station should become Russia’s “civilizational symbol.” Minyaylo dismissed the idea of space projects as “too weak” and “non-conceptual” compared to the restoration of the Tsar. “Reviving autocratic monarchical rule would be just right,” the priest stated, adding that only by looking inward and returning to autocracy will “space return to us, and more.”
The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) consistently acted as a primary ideological engine for the Kremlin’s expansionist policies over the past decade. Under Patriarch Kirill, the church leadership framed the invasion of Ukraine as a “metaphysical struggle,” providing religious justification for the mobilization of hundreds of thousands of troops.
The church has even actively lobbied in Washington to counter accusations of war propaganda and spiritual backing for the invasion. Currently, as the state moves toward overt totalitarianism, the ROC demands total support for the militarization of the country, with Patriarch Kirill labeling any opposition to state solutions as “treasonous.”

America is a mess because Christian nationalists have been "way too tolerant": "We need to be a lot more intolerant because Jesus was intolerant and violent. He called people names. This idea that Christians should tolerate non Christians comes from Satan. Going to church every Sunday should be required by law, again."

Christian Zionists Helped Stoke Trump’s Iran War
The morning after the United States and Israel began bombing Iran, Pastor John Hagee of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas, began his globally broadcast Sunday sermon with a special note about the “brilliant execution of Operation Epic Fury.”
“It’s refreshing to know that God is in total control and he has plans that will not be removed,” he told his parishioners.
Hagee, too, is in control, and the war in Iran is part of his — and his lobbyists’ — plans.
As the founder of the ten-million-member group Christians United for Israel, Hagee is a leading voice in the Christian Zionist movement, a subset of Evangelicalism that calls for the return of Jewish people to the “Holy Land” of Israel to bring about the second coming of Jesus. For Hagee and his colleagues, that end-time prophecy runs through Iran.
And while much attention has focused on the Israel lobby’s efforts to draw the United States into war with Iran, Christians United for Israel and the broader Christian Zionist movement have also been pushing for Iran regime change.
Christian Zionist ideology became linked to politics in the late 1970s, when pastor Jerry Falwell began working with Heritage Foundation founder Paul Weyrich to steer evangelical voters toward supporting the Republican Party.
Falwell, whose Moral Majority campaign helped elect President Ronald Reagan in 1980, made Israel a core tenet of his sermons, stating that “to stand against Israel is to stand against God,” and supported Israeli settlement expansion on Palestinian land in the 1980s. The Israeli government reportedly gifted Falwell a private jet for his efforts.
The evangelical political movement was in response to the movements for civil rights, women’s rights, gay rights of the 1960s.
In 2006, Hagee founded Christians United for Israel, framing it as a “biblical advocacy” mission to “go to Washington and go face-to-face with senators, representing Israel.” Since 2016, the group has spent nearly $2.5 million lobbying Congress on matters including Iranian sanctions, the Lebanese paramilitary group Hezbollah, the BDS movement, and military spending, disclosures show.
One of the more controversial tenets of the Christian Zionist movement calls for the building of a Jewish temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, a sacred site for many religions that is also home to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third-holiest site in Islam.
Once this so-called “third temple” is built, Christian Zionists believe Jews will return to the Holy Land and red heifers will be sacrificed, ushering in the apocalypse. During these end-times, Jews supposedly will either convert to Christianity or “be damned to hell.”
American ranchers have been breeding red heifers for just such a sacrifice. In August, Huckabee, a self-described Christian Zionist, and Johnson met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at an Israeli site holding the cows in the West Bank.
It’s not just politicians who have pushed Christian Zionist doctrine; the concepts are also seeping into the US military.
A military commander reportedly told lower-level officers to tell troops that the attack on Iran was “all part of God’s divine plan,” citing passages from the Book of Revelation referring to Armageddon and the “imminent return of Jesus Christ,” according to a March 3 statement from the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, a nonprofit advocacy group.
Other top commanders have reportedly issued similar messages, leading thirty members of Congress to urge the Defense Department’s inspector general on March 6 to investigate the claims.
“If accurate, these outrageous statements . . . raise not only glaring Constitutional concerns, but potential violations of Department of Defense regulations regarding religious neutrality and breaches of professional obligations and standards expected of military leadership,” the members wrote.
