If any theist can provide me with verifiable evidence for the existence of god, the type of evidence that can withstands scrutiny of the scientific method, I would gladly concede that the deity's existence is real.

Disclaimer: A/S/K/ing me to forego with reason and logic to believe with faith as a child would in fairies is not evidence of anything except your ignorance and gullibility. Also, the bible is not evidence of god's existence any more than a spider-man comic is evidence of spider-man's existence.

There are theists who reject the notion that there could be any proof of god.
This is convenient for this particular brand of theist who justify their beliefs this way. It means that they never have to provide evidence for what they believe and so can believe what they like and say "foolish atheists requiring evidence and reason for their beliefs" and still feel superior despite having no reason to.

These theists would have to reject this in order to stay faithful to their position!
