Despite which he keeps saying that he is morally superior to atheists, because our morals don't come from the holy book of crap.

I don't think he's a good representative of Christianity. We seem to attract the extreme fundamentalists. Most Christians strike me as secure enough in their faith to not even be interested in to what we atheists are up. We're not even on their radar, and they feel no need to justify their faith to nonbelievers. And they tend not to be utterly horrible, morally speaking.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

The reson people go through it is because there is hope on the other side of getting back to normal. But if there is little to no hope many opt out.
Quote:You are so quick to wish ill on people that it's a wonder your head doesn't explode when you scare quote other people's moral views in the same paragraph.
wishing ill, on someone is only a problem if they worship life above all else. If a person worships God first then the illness while still not a good thing, ceases to be the end of the world.
Quote:He's old enough to make his own decisions. He's not a child. That's the difference.
This is what confuses me about you people. you all seem like semi intellegent people for the most part... Yet just because some hack artical says the only determining factor in this kids death was the kid's desision you just drink the grape flavored Flav-o-Aide all up and want more.
To me a semi intellegent person one checks the facts like for one the bogus number the artical gave, so as to judge the artical honest or not. Then I would look into the cancer care process to see if it were even possible for a kid or even their parent to just stop treatment if the kid had a real chance at life.
Yet you all have done none of this and simply assume everything the artical said is indeed true even though I punched a big hole in it.
Quote:Grown-ups have every right to do make that kind of decision for themselves. But if the doctor's say that if your kid gets the chemo she'll most likely pull through but she'll definitely die if she doesn't, you have to remember that you're the parent and you have to be more objective than a suffering, drugged child might be able to be.
Again sport a 75% (over a 5 year period) chance of recovery in a kid under 15 is low, almost 30% low. that low number means the chance of reoccourance especially with an acute lymphoma is very high. and as the kid gets older the recovery rate goes down lower, while the reoccourance rate gets higher.
Quote:Everyone has a responsibility to give their child their best chance. It would be different if the odds were 90% against her surviving with treatment, letting her go might be the best thing for her. But the odds are greatly in her favor, if she gets the treatment. Her parents should back that. If she still needs treatment when she's of age and still wants to stop getting it, she can refuse then.
again the recovery rate in the artical was very misleading

Maybe that's why christianity has spread so widely in Africa.
Oh. I thought it was spreading in order to let bigots feel justified in killing gays, albinos, and anyone else who doesn't conform to their christian "values."

Which would mean she willfully sped up her own death, which I believe is a little thing called suicide, that's a sin in your religion, is it not?
Oh, probably not; after all, disagreeing with what I just said would be convenient to your argument, so no doubt you'll say just about anything for that.
By the way, isn't it generally the christian way to oppose voluntary euthanasia, too?
How is dying a natural death suicide?
Suicide is indeed a sin, but it is not the unforgivable sin. If this little girl had Jesus come to her and give her peace about dying I think she'll be ok..

I mean, at this point, doing that would literally be a lie, right? What's the deal, christians?
It's an example of them thinking it's a win win.
Child wants to die to be with jesus or child doesn't want to die but is with Jesus anyway.
1 is false, as you demonstrate from the article which literally infers that she didn't want to die. Point 2 is completely unknowable and thus nothing more than wishful thinking.
What it is is them playing fast and loose with a child's life. It's them shoehorning their beliefs into the gap left by a child's death, invoking a 'success' for belief in Jesus.
It's sick, really sick. Here's a thought, perhaps if they think this is the road to heaven, instead of invoking the death of a girl as evidence, why don't they leap into action and test their beliefs out for themselves?
Emphasis on the leap. What if the 'vision' was from the devil and in fact it wanted the girl to die so told her not to get treatment, thus going against Jesus' desire?

According to the article she had over a seventy percent chance to live so she wouldn't have been on chemo her entire life. It sounded as if she and her parents wanted her to live but believed alternative medicine would have helped her survive
Do you have evidence to support you claim?
Also As I pointed out with an artical from the American cancer soceity that artical's numbers were misleading

You claimed they were misleading. You claim a lot of things. Maybe you should have established a record of being trustworthy and accurate if you wanted us to trust your evaluations.
