And some people wonder what possible reason nearly half of the population of heaven might have for deciding to rebel against this guy.

You cut me to the bone GC. I only want to be loved, yet you discard me like a used condom down the drainpipe to hell.

There you go Tubby, prove that GC is wrong in his belief about you.
Seems like it is us who are always challenged to prove stuff.
Does it work the other way?

You know prof, maybe it's because we aren't claiming nonsense as truth?

Extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence.

... or so you hope, so that you don't feel like a little coward for knuckling under to fear.

And yet one of the selling points of your religion is that no one, supposedly, is a lost cause while they still draw breath -- that even God does not give up on the sinner while there is still a chance of genuine contrition and faith in Christ. But you presume to know better, I guess.

This is what I like about you GC. Hardly a day goes by that you don't confirm my opinion that you are an arrogant blowhard and a self-righteous asshole. It's nice to have one's beliefs confirmed by actual evidence (not that you would be able to relate to the experience). Angel Cloud

And that would involve me attempting to move factual evidence from my brain into a seperate area that I would label as "do not enter under any circumstances". At the same time, try to convince myself that the god of the bible actually does exist outside of reality and created everything with a mere thought?

I've often tried to imagine how it would be to exist in that state of mind but I struggle. I also wonder whether in the right circumstances I could temporarily move into that way of thinking just for a moment - tried but failed miserably.

It may be similar to when I've thought deeply about the scale of the Universe and, for what seems like milliseconds with the right atmosphere, began to comprehend it but it just as quickly went away.

I should add the caveat that the scale of the Universe is several magnitudes more tangible than attempting to construct inside my head some supernatural god that created said Universe. For me at least.

So you see, I'd be willing to try and imagine your god but my brain just won't allow it. I've even gone to church with my wife in the past but no, not a lot there. Sorry.

Your rant (admit it) from this perspective is a roar.
On Job (who preceded Moses by a long time)- (I am going to give you a paraphrase)

God to Satan- "Have you seen my servant Job? There is none like him".

Satan- "Does he serve you for nothing? You bless him coming and going, but take away his goodies and he will curse you to your face".

God- look dummy, he is in your hand right know and you don't realize it. (Job was very fearful, making sacrifices for his kids and who knows what else- fear is the opposite of faith, and fear puts one IN the devil's playground) Only spare his life.
Satan and his minions inspired enemies to attack, Job was attacked with boils.

Job passed that test.
Every one of us are tested. This life is a test.
Here is a test of another kind- get off your platform for a moment, and humbly ask the God of Heaven the very question this post began with.
(Drich isn't here right now, so I will fill in for him).

On Moses, God does not deal lightly with rebellion- He indicates it is the same as witchcraft and the first rebellion was Satan's.
The people who left Egypt SAW what happened to the pharaoh and the Egyptians.
They had an eyeful, yet planned a mutiny.
You history buffs know what happens to mutineers.

Indeed. Job passed. It is God who failed.

He showed he did not know what love was when thinking that replacing dead children with new live ones would be the same as having the old dead ones around for the parents.

Only those who do not know love would think children to be replaceable like that.

Remember that quote where God says Satan moved him. That is Satan controlling God and you think that good. Satan must then be controlling your thinking as you call evil good.

DL
