I've heard he's the Holy Spirit, or maybe even Michael. Not that there's any evidence for that.

OK Norm, I'll give your stuff a shot.
God is perfection and as such, His standard of behavior is the same.
His greatest gift of mercy is taking our place of punishment.
God's Justice demands punishment for wrongs, He offers mercy in the place of punishment to us.
All of you chaff at the injustice in the world. I see it every day here.
All of you concentrate on God's all knowing while leaving out God's justice.
A gross error.
The legal systems of earth (as screwed up as they are) recognize both punishment and capitol punishment as viable forms of dealing with evil.
You are self deceived to think evil can just be glossed over.
Now, go and read Genesis for the source of events before the flood.
Interestingly scientists today are manipulating the building blocks of life (like DNA) in the same way as the pre-flood world was messed with (same demons blowing influence in people's ears - different day).
Why God wiped everything out instead of some other way?
I do not know.
Like one of your mentors said, "We're working on it".
I have enough confidence in HIM whom I have believed to trust His decisions.

We don't leave out Yahweh's warped sense of justice, where innocent blood is spilt for the crimes of the guilty, to "save" us from burning hellfire.

Prof, like I said: if god is omnipotent, omniscient and has created me, anything I do that offends him is his own fault. He can easily make it so people won't sin, but he doesn't. He knows ahead of time that I will sin, yet he doesn't prevent it even though it's in his power. He already knows if I'll be sent to heaven or hell. Moreover, if he created people, why did he include the ability to sin? To use the brain which he has given us?
"God is perfection and as such, his tamdard of behavior is he same"? That is a naked assertion, because god clearly does not follow his own rules.
I do not think that evil can be glossed over, but I strongly believe that killing people is not he answer.

What was he doing while the fallen angels were raping women and making half-breeds, anyway?

Yeah, the usual term for that is "retcon".
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Any place is a good place to post that. Along with this observation of the Greco-Roman philosopher, Celsus:
Quote:"Again, if God, like Jupiter in the comedy, should, on awaking from a lengthened slumber, desire to rescue the human race from evil, why did He send this Spirit of which you speak into one corner (of the earth)? He ought to have breathed it alike into many bodies, and have sent them out into all the world. Now the comic poet, to cause laughter in the theatre, wrote that Jupiter, after awakening, despatched Mercury to the Athenians and Lacedaemonians; but do not you think that you have made the Son of God more ridiculous in sending Him to the Jews?"

Chad, God was doing the same thing as He is doing today, while babies are murdered in the womb, Muslims are blowing up people,
wars are being planned, and a whole variety of monstrous things are done.
I think He is lamenting all the evil, while watching His time clock for Adam's lease to run out and He to step in.
I hear we are now at the last few grains of sand to dribble out of the hourglass.
Year 6000 passed on the Creator's Torah calendar a week ago.
The roller coaster has just crested to the top of the first big ramp.

Like with the snake, that classical paintings portray as part woman because she was once believed to be Lilith. But now everyone thinks was Satan.
