My story! I am an Ex-Muslim, became and Atheist. I was visited by an Angel of God.
RE: My story! I am an Ex-Muslim, became and Atheist. I was visited by an Angel of God.
I would have to reply the same way. I don't know if that is possible or not, but I see no evidence that it is actually the case.

I've seen no evidence to believe souls, spirits or other dimensions/realities exist at all. I don't even know what a soul or spirit is meant to be, other than as a metaphor. It's not been demonstrated that anything about us exists independent from our physical state.

As usual, I feel no need to claim these things don't exist or aren't true. But what would make you think it is true? Where did your hypothesis come from?

Anyway, there is a story were a Saudi man was sentenced to jail for 2 years, and a 100 lashes. Because he wrote an article on his blog page criticizing Islam and Muhammad. He was given 50 lashes and was sent to a hospital, he is in a critical condition. I realized, that it is impossible for a human being withstand 100 lashes and yet survive, its almost like a death sentence.

You mean Raif Badawi? Make that 10 years, 1000 lashes and the death penalty. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/...77877.html
But just so we're clear; FOR FUCK'S SAKE, USE A VPN WHEN VISITING THIS SITE.
Especially if you visit that link. Do that immediately if you really want to continue using AF.org. It's fucked up that we live in a world where some people have to do that, but that is the reality of things.

WTF, 1,000 lashes... no way! This is outrage. I really feel bad for this guy, because even if he revert back to his faith, he will still be condemned for eternity by Islam Law.

It's already an existing theory Prince, and one that is so nuts-deep in the territory of the theoretical it may as well be classified in the same sort of region as the God argument. Much in the same way as a 20 ton rock landing on you instead of a 5 ton rock - at a certain point the weight doesn't matter, since both will kill the shit out of you.

Yeah, it's crap. Unless he can present objective evidence that his claims are true, they are worthless.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide mankind that cannot be achieved as well or better through secular means.

No, you didn't. Not one shred of evidence to back up your bullshit assertions in this whole fucking thread.

What would make you think that is true?

Well, because if you examine all the spiritual encounters, visions, dreams in the Bible, you will notice that they are all originated when the mind is at rest, when the human is a sleep. That is my theory. Carl Sagan also gives a similar like examples, that most hallucinations occur when people are in bed.

So I've heard similar claims before. Some I think honestly believe what they say and others say it for attention or as a last ditch attempt to justify there faith when they are beaten in logical debate. I do not know you so will give you the benefit of the doubt. You mentioned in your post that during the time you thought you were an atheist that you were depressed and potentially suicidal at the thought of no intelligent design. So wouldn't a more plausible since you wanted this so bad you had a vivid dream or even a hallucination? I mean if I said I awoke last night and my pet goldfish told me that actually live on the fecal matter of the great goldfish Zeta and we needed to make as much noise as possible so he was aware of our existence before he are his own poop and destroyed us all, would you break out the cymbals or say this guy is crazy. My story is just as believable and had more evidence because I can at least document the fish exists. Those spoken to by angels can neither document what was said or what said it are true.

Well, the event occurred to me once only. The spirit didn't speak to me, I don't know why. And, yes i was in point of my life were i was depressed and in deep need of a spiritual guidance. That's when the experience happen, did i originated the image like angel in my mind? possibly yes.

I wanted to keep the possibility open, that's why i started to question the concept of hallucination, my mind was in doubt.

So when you acknowledge it could be created in your own mind how can you make the claim its valid evidence.

We already went through this, you can view my previous comments.

I took the liberty to keep my possibilities open.  "I felt that the spirit was pulling my legs". This was my crucial evidence.

Of course, at first i thought it was just a hallucination. But, my mind was in doubts as i thought how could this be If I felt someone touching me leg.
