There is a far bigger problem with the bible then it contradicting with itself. It contradicts with the fundamental nature of the universe. I think to even point on contradictions with itself is to give the bible too much validity to start with. Both the old testament and new are so full of nonsense and fables that we know are false that it doesn't matter to me what else it says. The constant references to witches, demons, magic, angels, people living to be hundreds of years old, talking animals are enough for me to dismiss it's validity without having to nitpick small passages against each other.

Internal contradictions remove the argument from metaphor.

How much can the argument from metaphor be stretched though? In the New Testament they talk about a pool of water where angels would literally decend and heal people. There was a crippled man who couldn't reach it and Jesus came along and healed him. It's written like a clear account of events. I think they people who can finagle their way into saying things are a metaphor can use the same twisted logic to say that the bible contradictions aren't really contradictions.

Of course; pretzel logic is a requirement for parsing the Bible without retching.

However, for those Christians, and they are many, who believe without having read much or any of the Bible, its internal contradictions can be just as powerful a demotivator as its conflicts with science.

There are many paths up the mountain. Let the climbers choose the one best for them -- but they can only do that when they have information about the different routes.

Bold statement with no discernible facts to support it... Is anyone supprised that a man supposedly representing logic and reason checked it at the door, or does everyone who kudoed you just strong in their faith?

RE: I don't care about bible contradictions.
Practically 99% of the time, it is a waste of time. I share the same experience, with some others that posted on this thread, where the contradictions played a small role in my de-conversion. So, it's hard to stop trying, because there are people out there that will listen. I was one of the open-minded people, but the people on here that are unshakeable in their beliefs; I'm starting to see how much of a waste of time it is. I think if someone came on here, and introduced themselves as a christian, and said they were open-minded to hear what atheists had to say, then there's hope there, but I am starting to see how narrow-minded christians are on here. However, it is hard to stop, because you got the dishonest, goofs who love to say contradictions don't exist in the bible, when they clearly do.

Those seem to be take off's of the more popular Skeptics annodated bible.

To which there are several websites dedicated to answering those 'contradictions'

http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/christian.html
http://www.berenddeboer.net/sab/index.html

Since you want someone to do all of your research for you, I will gladly step aside and do the same. Above are two links that in detail go line by line and answer every single issue the SAB comes up with. Not only that in the first link has a list of links that in detail analizes the SAB and web sites like it (evil bible) and with a great effort show how they fail completely.

However if you have some specific points you wish to discuss, even if it is based off someone else's work, put that 'contradiction' into your own words next time and I will inturn do the same with your answer. Post block text or links and again I will do the same.

Not my first rodeo sport I will put in the same effort you are willing to expend. (Google works for Christian too.)

Does that mean that you're going to provide evidence for the allegedly discernible facts of witches, demons, magic, angels, people living to be hundreds of years old, and talking animals?

That wasn't what I meant. I'm not asking you to take every single one of those and talk about it

I mean: explain how it is possible that there could be long lists of very human like errors in a book that is meant to be not only divinely inspired but infallible? Where do you reckon these lists of contradictions come from?

IOW, if this is the word of god, how come one can find so many problems with it? You would think that it would be written in such a way as to make it as clear as possible what the message is, no?

Do you believe in witches and magic? I don't. Nor do I believe epilepsy is caused by demonic possesion. The bible sure does. Not to mention the talking animals, flood that killed everything after only 40 days of rain, ark, etc etc etc. It's all nonsense. The bible contradicts with reality.

That's the thing.. If you look at the annotated bible answered you will see that 90% of the supposed errors are a matter of translation. If you spoke a second language or even grown up around one, you would know that you can not translate a passage or idea directly that vast majority of the time. Grammar syntax and the cultural idioms do not translate. Hence the term lost in translation. When one translates they have one of two options. a literal translation where the message is corrected for grammatical and contextual errors into the translated language, or a contextual translation where one tries to interpret the idea of the original text. The bible (most of them) are translated literally. When one does this a lot of the suttle text is lost. If again you would look at a couple of chapters of 'Answers' to the annotated bible you will see those types of explainations/Answers given to supposed contradictions.

Websites like the SAB and Evil bible play on ignorance and the idea that most of you have; The bible was written originally in King James English. Otherwise why would it only look at the surface/English translation as a point of comparison? Without a doubt these types of annotations make for very lazy ill informed apologetics. The authors know this, but do not care. Why? Because it tickles the ears of those who have been conditioned to think in sound bites and those who look for truth in just sheer volume. (as you do.) Look at your post to me. You asked if the bible was the word of God why how could someone find so many errors... Never mind the fact that those supposed errors are fallacious in nature or the fact that I provided you with tools to seek the truth if you really wanted it.. No you heart and mind was won over with this propaganda simply because you want to believe it, and you point to the sheer volume of content as if it were some measure legitimacy even in the face of a well research response. In short you are not looking for truth, your looking to justify what you already want to believe despite what the truth of the matter is. That is why the supposed 'contradictions' of the SAB and EB have so much to say to you.
